Italy Part 2: Florence

We spent a day in Florence and climbed the Duomo (all 414 steps) and got a bird's eye view of the city. We visited the art gallery containing Michelangelo's David and some other art pieces. Florence is a small city, known for its great shopping and abundance of artwork.

  • The Piazza della Signora and Palazzo Vecchio (the main square and medieval town hall)
  • Il Duomo, the Cathedral of  Santa Maria del Flore
  • The Campanile Bell Tower
  • The Ponte Vecchio, built in 1345, was Florence's first bridge across the Arno River and is the only surviving bridge from Florence's medieval days.
  • Galleria dell'Academia
  • Neptune's Square
